Hi Friends,
I don’t often get what I call “The Book Blues.” , but every once in a while I seem to hit a slump and nothing I pick up interests me.
The key thing I have noticed is that this tends to happen when I am in the mood for something extremely specific and nothing I have fits the bill. I end up reading the first few pages of several books, but once I realize that it doesn’t hold what I am in the mood for, I move on, the sense of melancholy strong.
I have a few gems for times such as these.
I have no problem what-so-ever with re-reading books. I have several favorites that I have read through multiple times and what I love most is that each time, I always find something new that I didn’t realize last time round, a new perspective.
So, whenever the Book Blues hit me, I tend to fall back on my tried and trusted and it never fails to lift me out of my funk.

The Bronze Horseman Trilogy – Paulina Simons.
This is one of the most beautiful trilogies I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
Paulina certainly has a way with words.
Every single line, paragraph and page is a whirl of beautifully chosen words that flow wonderfully into the breathtaking story that is Tatiana & Alexander’s.
The story follows these two powerful characters as they go through life and try to love in the midst of war.
They are both incredibly diverse characters and I fell in love the second I “met” them.
They’re stories are tragic and painful and melancholy, but oh so beautiful.
In the face of everything, and I mean everything going wrong, they come out scratched and bruised and broken, but strong in their love.
I’ve read these books several times and each time found a little gem I had previously not noticed or had taken for granted.

While this is religious fiction, it is truly a set of books that anyone can enjoy, religious or not.
This follows the life of a young christian girl named Hadassah as her family is killed by the impact of the Roman Empire.
She is taken into a chaotic household as a slave where each family member is battling with their own demons, their struggles tearing their family apart. Hadassah, with her quiet grace and faith, impacts them all, brings them together.
These books are very special to me and is always first on my list when I can’t decide what to read.
Historically accurate, diverse, strong characters, love, betrayal, faith and family. It has the best of it all.
The writing is phenomenal and the characters and stories stay with you a long time after finishing the books.
Francine Rivers other work including – Redeeming love, is fantastic too.

Another set of books with strong female characters and an amazing plot.
The Tea Rose series is a heart-wrenching, entertaining, keep-you-guessing piece of work and i LOVE it. I have read it several times and never tire of it.
Fiona Finnegan is a determined young woman that is set on making something of herself. She works hard, looks after her family and uses her focus and drive to uncover a murder and set up her future. She is the epitome of Superwoman and I enjoyed the twists the story held.
Anyone who loves Historical Fiction will adore these books.
While I could list several more books that I like to go back to, Stephen King, Michael Robotham, Martina Cole and more, the above are touching, yet easy reads that have a real impact on the reader and can be re-read without issue.
What are your favorite go-to reads?
Have you read any of the above? What did you think of them. Leave a comment with your thoughts.
Stay Safe.
